Timbers from Russia
Russia has vast coniferous forests. One fourth of world’s timber (about 82 bilion cubic meters) is produced there. Since 1990, due to the decreasing rainforests, Russia is the main supplier of world timber.
Regarding coniferous trees, we have white wood, larch, red pine, cedar. As for broad-leaved trees, we have ash, Japanese oak, elm, and birch.
Cut timbers are transferred to various areas by Siberian train. The timbers are also transferred by ship to the Far East port cities of Vladivostok, Nakhodka, and Vanino.By land, they are transferred to China via Manzhuouli and Suifenhe.
Those products are processed at factories near where they are felled. In general, they are transferred by train, as are the logs before processing. Because of improvements of sawing machines and drying equipment, the quality of timber is also improving. New tax systems introduced from 2007 will accelerate the timber industry progress.
Tsuzen Shoten will work with our Russian branch office and Russian corporate relationships in order to supply our clients necessary information in a very timely manner. We welcome new business partnerships with those interested in Russian timber.
